- **Location**: You must currently be inside the UK on a valid Student visa (formerly Tier 4).
- **Qualification**: You must have successfully completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree.
- **Provider Notification**: Your university must confirm to the UK Home Office that you have completed your degree course.
- **No Previous Grant**: You must not have been previously granted a Graduate Route or Doctorate Extension Scheme visa.
Step-by-Step Application Process
1. **Wait for University Notification**: Do not submit your application until your university officially notifies the Home Office of your degree completion.
2. **Prepare Your Passport & BRP**: Ensure your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) and passport remain valid throughout the processing window.
3. **Submit Online Application**: Complete the application on the official UK government visa portal.
4. **Pay Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS)**: Pay the mandatory annual IHS fee allowing full access to the UK NHS healthcare system.
Financial & Maintenance Proof Requirements
One major advantage of the Graduate Route is that applicants who have lived in the UK for at least 12 months on a valid visa do not need to show proof of maintenance funds when applying inside the UK.
Transitioning to a Skilled Worker Visa
While the Graduate Route itself cannot be extended beyond 2 or 3 years, work experience gained during this period allows graduates to secure employment with licensed sponsors and transition seamlessly to a long-term Skilled Worker Visa.
